Well, Wednesday proved to be a productive and basically, uneventful day. A couple of the gals and myself ended up working late, but we pulled it all together. I love pouring fundraisers but they can be challenging and it is best to work thru them when it’s quiet and the phone isn’t ringing.  Although I accomplished what I set out to, I felt bad working late. I always struggle between home & work. When they are so closely connected it’s hard to seperate the two. My son is obviously old enough to fend for himself, but I still get the looks like “mommy, you should be paying attention to me” when I leave to go back to work at night. I know this is “mostly” in my head–but I still can’t help but feel  miserable..What do you do? Be a good mom? Be a good employer? Ugh…

So today is another day…what’s in store for me today? Well, I have 35 grubby enamel pans to pour today. These are really old pans that I’ve collected along the way. They are really neat and very primitive when they are all done. Each takes no less than 4# of wax and is covered in wax bananas, berries, nuts and so on.. So, at some point today-I will have pans sitting all over the shop!

I also have some banana splits and some pies to do. I can scoop “ice cream” faster than just about anyone! I love to do it and if I say so myself–my scoops are pretty darn life-like.

Oh-and it’s my husband’s birthday as well. I guess I better get started because it looks like it is going to be pretty busy again today. What is it they say about the busy bee?

Well, my hands are finally rested and I’m ready for another day.

As you may already know, Wednesday is our pouring day here at Granny’s. We have a pretty big week to ship next week,  so there will be alot of pouring. All of the jars and cubes are poured today and the specialty items will be done Thurs & Fri. Our good candle friend in TX  placed an order for over 400 cubes, so Keri will be a busy gal with them and I hope her hand doesn’t get too shaky. All of the products here at Granny’s are poured by hand and/or made by hand. We don’t use machines (it’s a miracle we don’t have carpal tunnel-LOL) and I don’t use molds for my “specialty” candles like pies and parfaits. Those are entirely made by hand. I  have found that pouring the candles in this manner enables us to provide a quality product each and every time. No surprises!

I am the oil expert and the gals handle everything from pouring the candles, to making the wax charms and decorating all the candles with them. We’ve been doing this so long, that it is all down to a very good system. Pouring a candle, is much like baking a cake. You start with a recipe, follow it precisely and you will produce a wonderful cake or candle. (at least most of the time)
